INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLANS and PATHWAY PLANS
All students in Years 7 - 9 have Individual Learning Plans and students in Year 10 have Pathways Plans. The main objective of these plans is to develop and nurture the student's scholastic, emotional and social abilities and capabilities. Students set short and long term goals with the assistance of one of their teachers and their parents. The student's learning is then tailored to suit their needs and aspirations. There is on-going evaluation of the plan.
All students are being encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning so that with the help of teachers and their parents they can achieve success. Students in year 10 are given the opportunity to sign the Beacon ‘No Dole Program’ and are assisted to discover career pathways through ‘Links to Industry’ or continue with further education.
INTEGRATED STUDIES
Integrated Studies are where a theme is studied in all subject areas and the curriculum delivery is strongly linked to this theme in all of the student's classes.
PROBLEM BASED LEARNING
Problem based learning has been introduced across the curriculum. Students are given a “real life” problem, such as “How does where we live shape who we are?”, which they solve using higher order thinking skills, cooperative learning and various Tribes strategies.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Flinders Peak has the third highest ratio of computers to students in Victoria. This technology allows students to move into the future capably and confidently.
